Likya, Olympos, Chimaera

Çıralı is a small and cute village in the middle of Ancient Lycia. Olympos Ancient city, which is one of the most important cities of Ancient Lycia, is located on the right of Çıralı beach. The ever burning fire of ancient Lycia – Chimaera (Yanartaş) – is located on the left of the beach on the bottom of the mountain right behind the village. The fire still burns today. The meaning of Lycia is the “Land of Sun”. Chimaera means the ever burning fire of the land of sun. Having hosted numerous civilizations in the course of time, this region is also the scene for many mythological stories. Çıralı stands out with its historical texture, blue sea, untouched nature and organic agriculture that all support tourism in whole.

In addition to being a coastal village with family establishment hotels, motels, lodging houses and restaurants that is completely estranged to mass tourism, Çıralı is one of the reproduction sites in Mediterranean basin for Caretta Caretta sea turtles that are becoming extinct. WWF and Foundation for Preserving Natural Life have been implementing protection programs for Caretta Carettas in Çıralı.
